We are organizing a nationwide fundraiser benefiting the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, taking place in restaurants across America on June 27.
Mission
As people rise up across the country to demand action in dismantling white supremacy, it has become increasingly unavoidable that all of us have a part to play in changing our world for the better. As a result of closures due to COVID-19, many restaurants have found themselves in positions of financial stress and are unable to donate as we would have previously.
In an effort to help smaller donations make a bigger impact in the fight for racial justice, we are asking that on June 27, restaurants and food establishments pledge 5% of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on behalf of a united food community.
We stand with our Black community members—the farmers, chefs, food chain, and restaurant workers—who have felt the pain of this fight every day of their lives.
Practices
The food industry from around the country will be promising to donate 5% of their daily sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on June 27.
Donations
At the end of the weekend, your company will make its own tax deductible donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, available HERE. We never handle your money. You make your own tax deductible donation, then self-report that amount to us so we can tally a total for funds raised.
Promotions
We will be strongly promoting this collective effort over the coming weeks and we suggest that you consider doing the same through social media channels and through any in-store promotions.
